Unlearning 2020: Part 4 – Solving the Paradox

Continued from Parts 1, 2, and 3.  (Read them first.)

Until we become financially independent (more about that later), there are limits to what we can do about the time part of the paradox (more about that later, too).

The first thing over which we must regain control is our information stream.

I wish I could wave a magic wand and show you how to find a universal source of truth you can always trust.  This is a problem theologians and philosophers have been trying to solve since the dawn of recorded history.  The Information Age has only (also paradoxically) made the problem worse.

So, what do we do?

If we don’t have the time to make an earnest pursuit of the truth …

If, even if we did, we have no guarantees of finding it …

If our cursory pursuits of truth usually send us down deceptive paths …

What’s the point of any of it?

Well, while we may not be able to find an external truth … we can find an internal truth.

See, here’s the beauty of it all.

If there are forces out there working to curate information that shapes our reality in a way that suits them …

Why can’t we curate information that shapes our reality in a way that suits us?

Read that again.

Maybe three times.

Let it sink in.

I mean – really let it sink in.  Down to the marrow of your bones.

The answer, of course, is … we can.  And … we must.

OK … we don’t have to do anything, really.  But we must do this if we don’t want to be kicked around by those who would manipulate us for their own ends.

Curating Your Own Reality

The first part of your reality to curate is … your state of mind.

This is the sole purpose of the deceptively simple tool we call The Little Calendar That Brainwashes You (click on that link and we’ll send you one for free).

If you aren’t willing to learn how to curate your state of mind, there’s no point in going any further.

This is “table stakes” in the game of life.

Doubt me?

Well, think about this.  Remember the last time you were really angry?

Were you able to get any quality work done?

Were you able to concentrate on … anything?

See what I mean?  If you can’t control your state of mind, your state of mind will control you.

And this realization leads us to a profoundly important question …

If negative states of mind prevent us from being productive, what are the states of mind that facilitate health … wealth … happiness … high performance … ?

(Again, that’s the whole point of the above-mentioned “Little Calendar”.)

Warning:  if you’re not committed to getting this right, there’s no point in continuing with the rest of this series.  It’s that important.  Nothing else I teach you will matter.  But that should be obvious by now if you’re really paying attention.  (Read this post again if you don’t “get it.”)

OK, once you start “curating” your state of mind … what’s next?

That’s what we’ll talk about in Part 5.
